About us

We are Hallin Clockworks (Licensed), clockmakers licensed by the Ministry of Chronology in the clocks sector, trading from Ferry Lane in Wasserdorf since 2010. We have kept the town's public clocks running and its households on time for sixteen years, and we intend to keep doing so for a good many more. Our workshop looks out over the river crossing that gives Ferry Lane its name, and on a still morning you can hear our test bench ticking through the shutters before the doors are properly open.

We build movements, we mend movements, and we do the paperwork the Ministry asks of us without complaint, because a clock that keeps bad time is worse than no clock at all. That has been the whole of our position since the day we opened, and it remains so.

Our founder. Sofia Hallin, a banker by training and born on 5 July 1976 at Ostrabruck, opened these premises on 22 September 2010. She died on 19 May 2022, and we have kept the workshop, the name and the standards she set exactly as she left them.

Our history

1. 2010 Hallin Clockworks is founded at Wasserdorf, a town of some 7,399 souls, and the first of our clocks goes up on the workshop wall before the paint on the sign outside has dried.
2. 2018 On 13 August we list on the Vellmar Exchange under the ticker FDH, a step our founder took with some reluctance and considerable care, and one that has served the company well since. In the press.

What we do

Our work sits in four lines, and we would rather do four things properly than ten things poorly. The Ferry Lane range is our standard domestic longcase and mantel movement, built for households that want a clock that will outlast the furniture it stands on. The Wasserdorf Municipal line covers public and tower clocks, and it is this line the town itself has depended on since we opened. Our Chronology Standard service is the movement certification and calibration work we carry out under our Ministry of Chronology licence, for our own clocks and for others brought in from elsewhere. Alongside these we run a repair and winding service for older movements, of the kind that no longer has a maker to go back to.

The workshop on Ferry Lane is open to callers through the week and on Saturday mornings, and we keep a small counter at the front for those who come only to drop off a clock or collect one that has been mended. We do not sell clocks we would not keep in our own front room.

Working with us

We take on movement fitters, case joiners and a certification clerk from time to time, and we train on the bench rather than from a manual, because a clock does not read instructions and neither, in our experience, does an apprentice learn much from one alone. Wages here follow the going rate for skilled work in Wasserdorf, and a room in the town lets easily enough within a labourer's day's pay for anyone coming from outside to take up a post with us.

Where we can, we give preference to men who have served with the Marsh Regiment, and we have found the discipline of the barrack yard translates well to the discipline of the bench.

Investors

Hallin Clockworks (Licensed) has traded on the Vellmar Exchange as FDH since 13 August 2018. Our shares closed the last financial year at 426.12 marka, on 31 December 2025. We report to our shareholders in the same plain terms we use on the shop floor, and we do not dress up a quiet year as anything other than what it was.
